Sister Myrna Velasco

As the Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation Advisor, Sister Myrna Velasco is dedicated to carrying on the legacy of Mother Teresa to rescue the poorest of the poor all over the world.

Sister Myrna has lived her whole life with a passion to care for those in need. Born in 1968 into a humble family in the Philippines, she felt called to minister to the poor and suffering even as a young child. She was trained by the Daughters of Charity Sisters where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing. After spending one year volunteering in loyalty service to the Bicol Medical Center, Sister Myrna spent the next several years caring for the diseased and mentally ill as a staff nurse in the same hospital.

After much prayer regarding her future, Sister Myrna felt compelled to do everything she could to make a difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor following the example of Mother Teresa. On November 21, 1997, Sister Myrna Velasco took her vows in the order of the Missionaries of the Poor, Sisters(Compassionate Franciscan Sisters of the Poor).

Since then she has served in Children’s Centers and Hospice homes in the Philippines and the West Indies. Her heart of compassion and selfless service led her to help establish Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation to reach out to suffering children around the world.

As Advisor to Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation, Sister Myrna Velasco currently heads a team of life savers who are dedicated to carrying on the legacy of Mother Teresa among the poorest of the poor. Her devotion and commitment are recognized by all whose lives she has touched.
